If you have not already seen it, AARP New Jersey released a video about AARP member Ruthann Wohlforth’s struggles to remain in her house with dignity in the face of rising property taxes. (Her video can be found at youtube.com/users/AARPNewJersey.) Her ability to live independently depends on the fate of the Senior Freeze.

Ruthann is beloved among staff in our office and we join her in waiting with bated breath to see what will happen to the program she depends on. She is not alone in her struggles; over a hundred thousand seniors rely on the Freeze to afford to live with dignity in their own home. Call 800-844-2272 to reach your state senator now and urge him/her to protect Ruthann and the 100+ thousand seniors who depend on the Freeze by fully restoring the program so that it is no longer frozen to 2008 levels despite steadily increasing property tax rates or closed to new applicants.
