Middletown, N.J. – The Ryan’s Run race committee is in the midst of preparations for what continues to be an annual favorite running event. Registration is ongoing for the June 25 5K and 1 mile fun run/walk on the grounds of Mountain Hill School in Middletown, New Jersey.
Organized by the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation (RAKMF) along with the Jersey Shore Running Club, Ryan’s Run has become one of Monmouth County’s premier running events and attracts runners from the New York Tri-State area and beyond to the fun-filled, family oriented athletic event.
Celebrating its eighth year, Ryan’s Run has become a favorite among the running community due to its well-crafted course of trails and roads through Middletown’s scenic horse country and serenity of Huber Woods and is complemented with food, drink, music, and awards.
Describing the race’s distinctive appeal, Ryan’s Run Co-Race Director Mario Gagliano said, “Because this race encompasses the best of both competitive running and family friendly events, Ryan’s Run has left its mark in both the running community and surrounding area as a memorable day for a worthwhile cause.”
Attracting both runners and humanitarians alike, the race subsidizes the RAKMF whose funds have helped support nearly 100 families, nationwide, through direct grants and funding for medical treatment and lodging in addition to the construction of 8 new memorial playgrounds, the most recent at the Ronald McDonald House at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA.
As unique to the course itself is the Ryan’s Run Pre-Race Expo and Barbecue sponsored by Outback Steakhouse and hosted on the grounds of Mountain Hill School on Friday night, June 24, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The event is free and open to both pre-registered runners and newcomers and is a great opportunity for runners to view the 5K course, meet the Race Committee, pick up race bibs and race t-shirts and meet some of the 2011 Expo Sponsors.
Discussing the barbecue and pre-race registration, Andy Kaiser, co-race Director of Ryan’s Run and Trustee of the RAKMF, said, “We have been pleased to offer the night as an added bonus to the main event for runners and families to meet our sponsors, prepare in advance of the event by picking up race bags, and enjoy a meal on behalf of Outback Steakhouse in Middletown who has been a tremendous sponsor of our foundation year after year.”
This year, the K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital has returned as lead sponsor in the 2011 race which is also sponsored by The Mountain Hill School, Alpert & Zales Pediatric Cardiology, Atlantic Bagel Co, The Monmouth Journal, Eastpointe Health & Fitness, Outback Steakhouse, Napoli Boys Italian Ices and GameTime the nation’s largest playground manufacturer.
In bringing the RAKMF and its goals to the public, Gagliano said, “We have been able to adhere to our mission and exceed our goals through the hard work and commitment of just a handful of dedicated volunteers. It is through this grassroots basis that Ryan’s Run continues to inspire those who witness its heartfelt undertaking.”
