Friends and Family of Adoptees in New Jersey:

We’ve declared FRIDAY, MAY 20th, WRITE TO GOVERNOR CHRISTIE DAY!!!!

The clock is ticking. If the Governor doesn’t sign the Adoptees’ Birthright Bill within 45 days of passing in the Assembly (May 9th), 30 years of hard work by New Jersey Adoptees and Birthparents will go POOF! We’re asking everyone to write a HARD COPY letter to the Governor and MAIL IT ON FRIDAY. The goal is to deliver so many letters to Governor Christie’s office, he’ll need a snow blower to get to his desk.

Tell your Friends and Family! It doesn’t matter what state they live in. Only TEN states allow Adoptees to obtain a copy of their birth certificate.

A sample letter is below.

Dear Governor Christie,

I am writing to you to tell you that I support The Adoptees’ Birthright Bill (NJ # S-799/A-1406). I believe that the bill is fair to both adoptees and birthparents, since it will allow a birthparent a full year to place a letter in their child’s file requesting “no contact” or to remove his or her name from their child’s birth certificate.

I encourage you to sign the bill without delay.

Sincerely,
