HAZLET, NJ – After undergoing a three-month renovation, the Hazlet Township Library at 251 Middle Road will hold a ribbon-cutting and open house to celebrate its re-opening.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 14, with light refreshments to follow until noon.  The public is invited to attend.

The scope of the $122,902 renovation project entailed upgrading the lighting and replacing the 35-year-old building’s ceiling. Patrons notice the difference, according to branch manager Beth Henderson.

“Most of our regular patrons have the same reaction when they come in for the first time:  ‘Wow!’,” Henderson said.  “They notice how much cleaner and brighter the library is and how much easier the lighting is on the eyes.”

Hazlet Township, which owns the building, deserves a good deal of credit for the project, Henderson continued.  “The township worked with us to provide temporary library services at the municipal building, and patrons appreciated the convenience of continued access to the library even when the building was closed.”

The library, which is a branch of the Monmouth County Library System, re-opened last month after the project was completed on schedule and on budget.

“If any residents haven’t been to the library or visited here recently, our open house is the perfect time to stop by,” Henderson said.  “There’s so much available at the library and through its website, that I usually get another ‘Wow!’ when I show people the databases or explain some of our services to them.”

Library hours are: Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Fridays, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  For more information, please call 732-264-7164.
