In Honor of Asbury Park Fire Fighter Jason Fazio

HIGHLANDS, NJ – Central Jersey Blood Center (CJBC) encourages the citizens of Highlands and neighboring communities to donate blood, as the lack of donations has threatened the blood supply.

Asbury Park Fire Fighter Jason Fazio

This drive is in Honor of Fire Fighter Jason Fazio who went into a fire in Asbury Park on January 10th, 2011, the morning of his 41st birthday. After being engulfed in a flash fire, he was forced to jump out of a two-story window. Breaking bones and suffering burns to 48 percent of his body, he remains in critical but stable condition in the St. Barnabus Medical Center Burn Unit. Jason will need continued blood transfusion during his recovery time.

The Highlands Fire Department will be sponsoring a blood drive on April 23, 2011 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm at the Firehouse located at 17-1 Shore Drive, Highlands NJ 07732.

A bake sale will also be conducted by the Highlands Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, all proceeds will be donated to the Fazio Family.

Most healthy people who are seventeen years of age or older and weigh at least 120 pounds may be eligible to donate blood.  Tattoos, body piercings and most medications are acceptable.
