HIGHLANDS, NJ – The Henry Hudson Regional Education Association will host a “Meet the Candidates Night” for those seeking election to the Board of Education of the Henry Hudson Regional School District. 

The event will be held April 6th and get underway at 7 p.m. at Henry Hudson Regional School, 1 Grand Tour, Highlands. The event is free of charge and all residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about their neighbords seeking election.

In Atlantic Highlands, Sarah Kroon Chiles, Robert Thuss, Jr and incumbent Arthur Weimer are running for two, three-year seats.  Highlands resident and current Board of Education president Cheryl McDonald is running unopposed for one three-year seat.

The format for the evening will allow each candidate to give a three-minute long opening statement.  Candidates will then be asked pre-selected questions about their experience and views on issues affecting Henry Hudson and education in New Jersey.  All participants will be able to answer each question.

Audience members can also submit questions, which will be reviewed and presented to moderators as time permits. Each candidate will be allowed to make a closing statement.

The event will conclude with light refreshments and time to mingle with the candidates.

School elections will be held April 27th and includes a vote on the proposed budget for the 2011-2012 school year.  Polling locations in Atlantic Highlands will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.  The polls in Highlands will open at 2 p.m. and close at 9 p.m.
