ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – The Rev. Michael Riley will preach on the Third Sunday of Lent at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at the First Presbyterians Church.

His sermon title will be “Meditation on a Fool.”

Riley is an ordained minister and a regular preacher at the church. He is also an author and editorial writer at the Asbury Park Press, and his  weekly Press column,”Only Human,” appears on Fridays.

Riley will continue his popular “mystery bag” children’s sermon series when youngsters try to “stump the pastor” by placing a small personal “treasure” in a brown paper bag. He then picks one bag and creates a children’s message from its contents.

Regular Sunday School classes, which are open to all area youngsters, begin after the children’s sermon.

The Rev. Barbara MacFie will officiated at the church on April 6. At that time she will also administer Communion and conduct a special congregational meeting when members will receive the final report of the Pastor Nominating Committee.

Riley will return to the pulpit on April 10 and is expected to preach thereafter.

All area residents and visitors are invited to worship with the members of the 121-year-old handicapped accessible church at the corner of Third and E. Highland Aves. A new municipal parking lot is available next to the Christian Education Building on E. Highland avenue.

Child care for four-year-olds and younger is provided during the regular 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.
