First solo show by Oceanport photographer Tina Colella

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.  –  Monmouth University will host the first solo exhibit of Oceanport photographer Tina Colella April 7 through May 20 in the Pollak Gallery, with an opening reception to be held from 6 to 8 pm on April 7. The exhibit and reception is free and open to the public.

Tina, a professional lens woman for most of her life, is a passionate proponent of the captured image, focusing on nature’s artful joining of life’s energy, beauty and deep, spiritual peace. Tina has conveyed the union that landscape and life’s symmetry, and even tension, bring to the human experience, exemplifying the union between man and his surroundings.

This eclectic retrospect of both color and black-and-white work carries the viewer to the essence of the yin and yang of life, ranging from the tranquility drawn from communing with flowers, birds and landscape to the crest of urban exhilaration.  Tina’s work gently carries the viewer to soothing bucolic New England scenes, gliding gulls along the Atlantic and on to the slower, Impressionistic pace of the Shrewsbury River.  Then, knowing that energy is also drawn from the pulse of urban life, the artist thrusts the viewer into an almost chaotic and throbbing pace with a striking nocturnal shot of the well-trafficked Verrazano Bridge and a view of downtown Los Angeles taken from atop the second tallest building in the city.
