We need as many residents to bring a friend as possible to come to an urgent Public Hearing that the Township of Colts Neck has requested the DEP hold next Wednesday January 19th at 1:00 PM at the Colts Neck Town Hall !!!!! (Cedar Drive)  Men, Women, Everyone!!

This is about the Trump Golf Club’s request to triple the water allocation they now have. This will affect the Swimming River Reservoir and everyone who drinks from it. The DEP has seemingly agreed with the Trump request and to add insult to injury is asking that all stormwater runoff be sent directly, with no Best Management Practices even used (in violation of the Federal Clean Water Act and NJ’s Stormwater Management Act), into Marl Brook which joins Mine Brook, which empties into Yellow Brook, which then discharges to the Swimming River Reservoir.

Colts Neck is seriously concerned about this as lower levels in the Reservoir also affect wells in town. New Jersey-American Water Company, from which most all other towns in NE Monmouth County receive water at least part if not all of the year, is in opposition for water supply reasons as well as water quality considerations. So also is the Monmouth County Health Department! The DEP now needs to see that those of us who rely on this as a water supply also care!!!

This is also a great opportunity to see more of “government in action.”:
