West Long Branch, NJ – Two Monmouth University students, Jessica Pino and Kyle Seiverd, have been selected to compete with the most comical college students in New Jersey for the title of “New Jersey King or Queen of Campus Comedy.”  Pino is a senior from Folsom majoring in software engineering and Seiverd, also a senior, is from Toms River majoring in biology and secondary education.

Kyle Seiverd performs a stand-up routine.

The fourth annual New Jersey Comedy Festival (NJCF) held preliminary competitions beginning in September. Seiverd and Pino competed at The Stress Factory Comedy Club in New Brunswick where they were selected to move on to the finals at Rutgers University.

The Championship Finals will provide Pino, Seiverd and the other preliminary winners the opportunity to perform five minutes of comedy before a large crowd and to compete for the grand prize. In addition to being crowned the “New Jersey King or Queen of Campus Comedy,” the winner will receive the Good Humor Award, a $5000 cash prize, a scholarship from the Stress Factory School of Comedy, and the opportunity to perform at The Stress Factory Comedy Club.  The comedians will be judged based upon originality, stage presence, material and audience reaction by celebrity judges from the world of comedy.
