ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – Columnist Michael Riley will lead Sunday’s 10 a.m. worship service at the First Presbyterian Church by focusing on angels.
Riley, an ordained minister and regular guest speaker, will mark the third Sunday of Advent with a sermon entitled “Angels Everywhere,” which is about the place of angels in the Christmas story.
The Advent candle will be lighted early in the service by Cheryl Spears and her family.

During Sunday’s service, Riley will continue his popular “mystery bag” children’s sermon series when youngsters try to “stump the pastor” by placing a small personal “treasure” in a brown paper bag. He then picks one bag and creates a children’s message from its contents.

Regular Sunday School classes, which are open to all area youngsters, begin after the children’s sermon.
Riley will preach next on Sunday, Dec. 19. He will also conduct the church’s annual Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, and and will also preach at the Sunday Dec. 26, service, the day after Christmas.
The Rev. Barbara MacFie will be in the pulpit and serve Communion on Sunday, Jan. 2.
Riley, a South Amboy resident, is an ordained Baptist minister with over 20 years of pastoral experience.

All area residents and visitors are invited to worship at the 120-year-old handicapped accessible church at the corner of Third and E. Highland Aves. A new municipal parking lot is available next to the Christian Education Building on E. Highland avenue.
Child care for four-year-olds and younger is provided during the regular 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.
