“Money and Your Family” is the focus of a free monthly community financial forum at the Red Bank Public Library presented by Robin Goldberg, a retired business executive, Red Bank resident, and member of the Friends of the Library. On Wednesday, November 10, 2010, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Robin’s topic will be “Where Can I Find Money: Home Equity and Other Ideas.”
An investment professional with thirty years of experience, Robin managed portfolios of bonds, energy investments, and institutional limited partnerships invested in venture capital for a large insurance company. Robin has an MBA from George Washington University with a concentration in finance and a BA from Georgetown University. “I grew up learning from my parents that giving back to the community was important, and I look forward to this volunteer opportunity to share my background in financial matters with others,” says Goldberg. Coach Jenn A. Nocera will present the workshop “Minimize Emotional Eating and Stress at the Holidays” on Thursday, November 18, 2010, at the Red Bank Public Library. “We often dread the upcoming holiday season because of the stress and weight gain that accompany it,” says Nocera, a Certified Life Strategies Coach and Certified Personal Fitness Trainer with a Master’s degree in Behavioral Science and Psychology and a Post-Master’s professional degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Perfectly timed just before Thanksgiving, this workshop will help you identify what triggers overeating, learn how to overcome your barriers to fitness, and maintain control as the holidays approach. The Red Bank Public Library’s Acoustic Saturdays series continues its third season at the library on November 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Eisner New Jersey Room with a performance by Gerald Edward. Known as a master of the more intimate acoustic singer-songwriter genre and a superb musician, Gerald Edward creates songs that cut across musical genres from modern rock, folk-pop, and blues-tinged neo-soul. The library presents this series featuring acoustic musicians and singer-songwriters on the last Saturday of the month from September to November and January to May. The Acoustic Saturdays programs at the library are produced and hosted by guitarist Anton Daub, the emcee of the weekly acoustic open microphone on Wednesday nights at Espresso Joe’s coffeehouse in Keyport and a frequent performer at many of the area’s acoustic music venues. These free performances are supported by funds from the New Jersey State Library.
Free English as a Second Language classes for adults 18 and over are offered regularly at the Red Bank Public Library in partnership with the Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County. Artists seeking inspiration, motivation, and a special time to devote to their work are invited to attend an informal gathering once a month at the Red Bank Public Library. The “Artists’ Workshop” takes place the first Thursday of each month from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the library Community Room. The workshops are free and no registration is required. Participants should bring their own drawing and painting materials, although oils are not permitted because of ventilation concerns.
