I read with amusement Jeff Blumengold’s letter criticizing Middletown Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger for not embracing Democrat Sean Byrnes’ liberal policies.  While Mayor Scharfenberger has been a vocal opponent of COAH, the socialist, taxpayer subsidized low-income housing program, along with unfunded mandates and union excesses, Mr. Byrnes has opposed the abolition of COAH and has sided with the unions and other liberal special interests time after time. Most recently, Sean Byrnes even voted to keep school funding on the backs of local property owners, thus ensuring New Jersey will remain the state with the highest property taxes in the nation and the NJEA will have a continued source to fund its excessive demands.

The problem with liberals like Sean Byrnes, Frank Pallone, Rush Holt and Jon Corzine is that they put the interests of various special interest groups and the unions who support the Democrat Party above what is best for the American taxpayer.   Is it any wonder that the remarkable patriots in the Tea Party movement are growing in numbers more and more with each passing day?  Americans are fed up with liberals and the destructive policies that taxpayers are forced to pay for.
