Monmouth County has been hit hard with foreclosures. Last year, the county Sheriff’s Office recorded 866 foreclosure writs received by property owners; of those, 448 were sold, 64 went into bankruptcy and 242 were settled, canceled or re-instated. Municipalities with more than 25 foreclosures resulting in sale during 2009 include Keansburg, Neptune, Long Branch, Howell and Asbury Park.
