ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – Minister and newspaper columnist Michael Riley will be the guest preacher at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service at the First Presbyterian Church.

Rev. Riley’s sermon is entitled “A Summertime Christmas Meditation.”

He will continue his popular “mystery bag” children’s sermon series in which youngsters try to “stump the pastor” by putting a small personal “treasure” in a brown paper bag. Riley then picks one and creates a children’s message from the contents.

Riley will return to the pulpit on Aug. 29 and then again for three straight Sundays, Sept. 12, 19 and 26. The Rev. Barbara Macfie will preach and administer Communion on Sept. 5 and Oct. 3.

Riley has been an ordained minister for over 20 years and is a reporter-columnist for the Asbury Park Press. His weekly column, “Only Human,” appears on Friday in The Press.

Area residents are invited to join in worshiping at the 120-year-old handicapped accessible church at the corner of Third and E. Highland Aves. All children are welcome and child care is provided during worship services.
