ASBURY PARK, NJ – HABcore, Inc., a non-profit corporation providing supportive housing for the homeless and disabled, is the beneficiary of a service project provided by World Changers, a group providing Christian youth and adults with opportunities to meet the needs of others through practical learning experiences.  A group of three adults and seven young ladies scraped and painted the trim of the 130-year-old Laurel House, a boarding home serving the homeless in Asbury Park.  The three-story building is home to 30 people. Steve Heisman, Executive Director of HABcore, stated, “It is truly amazing to me that these young people care so much about others that they are willing to spend their vacation sweating and slaving away in the heat a thousand miles away to make a better home for those who are less fortunate. They can teach a lesson to us all.”

World Changers works in 101 North American locations and 28 international locations. World Changers’ website can be accessed at www.world-changers.net. HABcore, Inc. serves Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey.  HABcore provides a clean, safe home and supportive services to over 100 residents each day, working internally and with peer agencies to help the residents rebuild their lives and become productive members of society.  Over the past two decades, HABcore has assisted over 400 homeless individuals and families.  Now, more than ever, the help of the community is needed to maintain existing facilities and to meet the growing demand for affordable housing.  The generous support received from World Changers will further HABcore’s efforts to bring stability, dignity, and hope to the homeless.
