RED BANK, NJ – Artist Andrea Alvin paints still lifes.  Not exactly a radical idea except for her choice of subjects— Mallowmars, cupcakes, Hershey’s chocolate kisses and other treats that we humans often crave. Alvin mixes the nostalgic with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor to produce bright bold canvases that give instant recognition of her choice of subjects to the viewer.  Her whimsical leanings lead her to also paint toys and cartoon characters that reflect her baby boomer background.

Andrea Alvin and her photo-realistic art will open at CEL-EBRATION! Gallery in Red Bank on Saturday July 17, 2010. Her work will be the centerpiece of their latest show ‘Art & More at the Jersey Shore’ which runs through September 4th. Alvin, who lives in NY, will visit CEL-EBRATION! Gallery for a public reception from 2 to 5 PM to meet collectors and talk about her career and her current work.   Both prints and original art will be available for purchase.

Alvin grew up in California, knowing one day she would be an artist. After graduating from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California she worked for noted animation studio Hanna Barbera, and created  films for Children’s Television Network and other media companies.  Partnering with her internationally respected artist husband John Alvin, they created a design and illustration studio responsible for some of filmdom’s best loved poster art.
