ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – The Atlantic Highlands Fire Department, an all-volunteer group of dedicated men and women, is proud to announce the 2010 Fireman’s Fair and Independence Week event schedule.

The extremely popular Fireworks Display will be held on Friday, July 2, 1020 (rain date Sat., July 3). “This year, the Independence Day celebration promises to the biggest and best in recent history,” said Jacob Hoffman, AH Fire Department spokesperson, “with the continuation and expansion of several very popular programs such as the fireworks, Deck the Docks, the food court, new live entertainment and more.”

The popular “Pay One Price Nights” also continue on every evening except Fireworks Night, July 2.  Fairgoers can purchase a bracelet for one price and ride all rides, all night.

The crowd-pleasing “Deck the Docks” boat competition continues in its fifth year, thanks to the Atlantic Highlands Harbor Commission, the competition sponsor. Prizes again include cash prizes and a challenge trophy. This year’s theme is “Boats At Work”, a tribute to the new Atlantic Highlands fireboat, Marine 85. Winners will be announced at 11 PM Saturday July 3. Information on the competition is available at the Harbor Office.

During the five-night fair, expect great live musical entertainment. The nightly lineup includes rock and roll, classic rock and ‘oldies’, and plenty of crowd energy.

“Super Raffle” continues and tickets may be purchased in advance of the Fair. Last year, over $7,000 was awarded to three winners.

Twelve games of chance and over 14 amusement rides are offered on the fair grounds.

The food court offers several new vendors in 2010 and includes some favorites from last year such as seafood, barbecue, sausages, funnel cakes, and much more. The Fire Department will cook hamburgers and hot dogs. Bring the whole family to the fair to enjoy good food and drink, play games and enjoy thrilling rides, watch fireworks, and see all the interesting decorated boats.
