Amidst the debates over taxation and education that are consuming the public interest, I would like to recognize one decision that can be appreciated by all New Jerseyans; Governor Christie’s assurance that no Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) projects will be allowed off of our shores. For years, three companies (Liberty Natural Gas, Atlantic Sea Island Group, and Exxon Corporation) have been pushing to have their LNG projects approved by the state. LNG importation, which would greatly disrupt our marine ecosystem and have few (if any) positive benefits, is something that is undeniably bad for New Jersey. My fellow Student Ocean Advocates and I would like to acknowledge Governor Christie for looking past all else and doing what is right for New Jersey.
