david_prown_120Got a last minute ticket to see the documentary “The Cartel” which focuses on New Jersey Public Education with an emphasis on urban schools.

Pretty amazing story of corruption, incredible expense, mismanangement, crony jobs, waste,  etc.

We, here in NJ have the #1 cost per child for education while the results are pretty darn poor.

The documentary, by former NJ TV newsman Bob Bowdon is very one sided against the monopoly of public education and his film is impactful.  He advocates for school choice like the Vouchers, Magnet schools, Charter Schools etc. and his arguments are effective.

I’m a huge believer in school choice and competition.  Here in Red Bank, the creation of the Charter School clearly impacted the vast improvement in the boro schools particularly the Middle School.  I’m a big supporter of both and my kids went to both.

At the end of the day, it is a business.  Competition is healthy and yes frustrating, but no doubt makes you step up your game (I deal with this every day in my business).

Starting this weekend, the film will be presented nationally in 8 of the largest American cities.  Though a story focused on NJ, can be identified with many other states.

Good stuff
