Red Bank, NJ –  Phoenix Productions announces auditions for its upcoming production of RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony-Award winning rock opera, which will be performed at the 1,500-seat Count Basie Theatre in July.  Auditions will take place at the Phoenix Rehearsal Center, 111 Monmouth Street in Red Bank, on:

Sunday, May 2 from noon – 4pm

Tuesday May 4, from 7- 10pm

Wednesday, May 5, from 7 – 10pm

Auditioners must be 18 years or older and are asked to prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo rock/pop/gospel song with sheet music in the correct key.  Accompaniment will be provided. Auditioners should wear clothing they can dance in.

Because a large turnout is expected, audition appointments can be reserved in two-hour time blocks by emailing first and second requested times to [email protected]

Requests cannot be guaranteed as they will be processed in order and will be confirmed via return e-mail. Walk-ins are welcome. Character Breakdowns are available on the Phoenix Productions website: under “Auditions”.

Based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera, “La Boheme”, RENT follows a “year in the life” of a group of struggling bohemian artists living in New York’s Lower East Side under the shadow of AIDS. The show will be produced by Laurie Edwards, directed by Tom Frascatore, with music direction by Regina McAllen and choreography by Kelly Gemellaro.
