April 11-April 18, 2010

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – The Middletown Township Committee joins the Holocaust Memorial Museum in encouraging residents to remember the victims of the Holocaust and be aware of what can happen to civilized people when bigotry, hatred and indifference reign. United States Congress established the Days of Remembrance as our nation’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust and created the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a permanent living memorial to the victims.

The Township Committee proclaimed the Days of Remembrance as April 11-April 18, 2010 in Middletown Township at their March meeting. This year’s proclamation was accepted by Dr. Seymour Seigler, Director and Founder of the Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Education Center at Brookdale Community College. The Center through its programs provides vital, creative education resources to address genocide and human rights issues locally and around the world. During the Days of Remembrance the Center will host Defying Genocide: An evening with Carl Wilkens. The event will be held on April 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Brookdale.
