At Brookdale April 5 & 6

Lincroft, NJ, March 19, 2010 – Writer/producers Billy Van Zandt & Jane Milmore will hold non-Equity auditions for all roles and understudies in the revival of their adult comedy hit, You’ve Got Hate Mail, on Monday and Tuesday, April 5 & 6 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Brookdale Community College Performing Arts Center. Parking is most convenient in lot #2.

A broadband comedy of errors, the five-character play is Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore’s comic answer to A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters. In You’ve Got Hate Mail, love “bytes” all when an extra-marital affair goes horribly wrong, thanks to a juicy email left sitting on a desktop. Gary Shaffer, Toms River, will co-direct with Mr. Van Zandt.

You’ve Got Hate Mail will rehearse weekday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and weekend days, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., May 8 through May 27. Performances are at 8:00 p.m. on May 28, 29, and June 4 & 5. There will be some travel pay.

The open roles for the production are:

STEPHANIE(40s): The unsuspecting wife, Stephanie is new to the internet, and having innocent fun with her new toy until it reveals a side of her husband she never saw coming.

RICHARD (40s): The philandering husband, Richard is caught between wanting to do what is right, and wanting to do a hot young secretary at the office.

GEORGE (40s): Richard’s dim-witted best friend is obsessed with emailing jokes and Photo-shopped pictures of celebrities to everyone he knows.

PEG (40s): Stephanie’s man-hating best friend is unlucky in love, and quick with a wisecrack.

WANDA(20s): The other woman. Sexy, young and hot, she wants to move up in the world. Volatile and passionate.

Auditioning actors should bring a picture and a résumé. Sides will be provided at the audition (only).

Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore are the authors of twenty-three plays that are produced worldwide through Samuel French, Inc. The Emmy nominated TV writer/producer team (Martin, The Hughleys, Newhart), have annually staged their original work at the Brookdale Performing Arts Center, where they continue to underwrite on-going scholarships for Brookdale theatre arts students.
