THE "CLUB" Having grown up in Red Bank and especially during my young adult years I was always proud when visitors to the area touted what we had. They just marveled at the beauty of the river, the homes along its banks and the town’s layout. Red Bank’s close proximity to Manhattan and the quality of people in the area had always made me project this area as a great place to “live, work and play.” During the last 10 years all of the above has brought host of people wanting to live and have businesses in the Red Bank area. The emergence of “Town and Country” styled magazines like Mar and the soon to be published Two Rive Times Magazine promoting the people and the affluent shopping has caused a bit of a buzz among those that live her. Loaded with pictures of locals at various social and charity functions and top end quality ads for local businesses some are asking if that is the image that Red Bank is today. My answer is “yes” at least part of what we are here. One women customer of mine, who has lived here for years, commented that with her job in New York and her home in Little Silver she feels she is a member of the “Club.” I loved her analogy as to how she viewed living here; it is one big club that we all are a part of. With all the facets that make up the fabric of living here I have always felt a sense of community about the area but actually a step above that. Her coining the phrase the “Club” hit the nail on the head for me. That was the feeling I have always had about living here, that we are all a part of something bigger then just living in a town. So, congratulations to all of you that live work and play in the greater Red Bank area. Whether or not your picture or businesses are in the magazines and local newspapers you are part of the “Club.” Whether you keep a low profile or are engaged socially, politically or business wise you belong to a great area. If you were born here or found your way here over the years once again congratulations and welcome to the “Club.”
