TAKING A BREAK For the last three weeks I have been resting and trying to get back into shape before the next round of treatment begins. Radiation and Chemotherapy will start on Monday the 17th and go for 7 weeks, 5 days a week. It should be a real day at the beach…cant wait. I will let you know how it goes and how it compared to what my Mother went through 40 years ago. In the mean time I want to talk about this Antique District of ours and what is happening. First the Two River Theater will hold a fundraiser Hard Hat cocktail party in the theater this Saturday from 8 PM to 10 PM. Five restaurants will donate the Hors d’ouvres. They will include Savanna's, Siam, 2 Senza, the new Melting Pot restaurant and yours truly Danny's Steakhouse. Finally after waiting and promoting Red Bank for the last 25 years our side of town is finally growing into its own. In addition to the Two River Theater almost being complete there are four new additions to Bridge Ave in the Antique District. Two are restaurants, one is a beautiful furniture store and the last is our sushi addition to Danny's. Savanna's in the home of the old House of Coffee features a gorgeous new interior design augmented with a tapas menu that Mark Sherry of the Old Homestead Steakhouse and I found to be a new and exciting tasting and dining experience. The Melting Pot opened in the Galleria also and is a franchised restaurant ALA fondue dining. The design is soft and private and great for family, friends and romantic dining. Once seated you cant see or be seen by anyone else except your wait staff. There is a new furniture store where House Wares use to occupy in the Galleria. Run by three women with impeccable taste I am ready to throw away all my furniture and start over. This store is well worth the trip. And lastly our sushi bar at Danny's where Chef Ken Chen is creating a new sushi menu that features dishes you cant find anywhere from here to Manhattan. One section is “Not Raw Sushi” designed for the obvious. I hope to see you in the Antique Center of Red Bank soon. Red Bank Community Website
