ADJUSTING THE INSURANCE COMPANIES

Some say a picture is worth a thousand words…sometimes it can be worth a couple of thousand dollars or more, maybe much more. If you ever had a fire or theft in your home you know how hard it is to collect from the insurance companies. All they need is your first born, a sworn statement to god with priest present and then maybe they will give you one-third of the original value. If you are lucky they pay as high at forty percent.

A better way to keep a running inventory of what you own is being presented by Terri McCue of McCue Public Adjusting of Tinton Falls. She is the person that you would call to go and fight the big bad insurance companies for your money if lost in a fire or theft. She comes armed with new weapons to win your fight with the help of digital pictures or videos of everything you own. This would work both for your home, office/business or even you yacht. I wish I had a yacht to take pictures of ……however you get the picture.

Terri McCue was born and raised in this area belonging to a large family five generations long with a lawyer for a Dad. What would lead an ex-insurance broker and ex-real estate agent to start a business that would go to battle with insurance companies? When it comes to adjusting the cost of property claims regarding what you have lost you need someone on your side representing you. After all would you go to court without a lawyer? When asked what led her to this occupation at first she had no real answer other then her knowing that the insurance companies did not always pay what they could on claims. That and that she could get the maximum they can give when given the best claim information.

When asked if she or any of her family had ever lost a great deal too any disaster she gave a not surprising answer. “Why yes, my father's house that he lived in since he was two burned down and we barely got anything back, and he was a lawyer.” Aha! “Therein lies the rub.” Many times when people take up a cause or job that benefits people in general there is an underlying desire to rectify some prior wrong. That is the person I want on my side. That is the person I want fighting for me when I need to be represented in an area I am not proficient in.

The above is a bit windy I know but it was the best way I could advise you to get a living inventory of everything you own. If you have pictures of your “stuff” as well as documents as to their value you stand a better chance of getting a larger claim back from the insurance companies after a disaster of any kind. I guess watching all those people in Florida lose everything they had pushed me to get Ms. McCue to document both my home and restaurant. Try walking around your home and or business and add up everything you own in terms of dollars and cents. The sum just might surprise the hell out of you.
