TURKS AND CAICOS

When asked where I went on vacation and I say the Turks and Caicos I get two reactions. One is, “oh, I love it there” or “where is that I heard it was the new hot spot?” I really had mixed emotions to the entire island. For romantic vacations I would recommend St. Johns or St. Bart’s or a number of other islands. If you are going to retire or live on an island or are looking for the biggest and longest beaches then the Turks might be your answer.

There is a Club Med there that is one of the older ones in the chain with new Condo complexes being built along the North shore. These are the accommodations that you rent and stay in. There are no hotels as we know them. The can be pricey from $150 a day for a room off the beach to $850 a day for the two bedroom condo on the beach. Of course if you are a rock or movie star you can build a house at Parrot Quay along side of Bruce Willis, Keith Richards or the DKNY herself. These house can be rented for $12,000 a day and up.

There are numbers restaurants along the coast which served very good food in beautiful night time settings on the beach or overlooking local marinas. Local restaurants are in short supply and are usually small catering to locals and very few tourists.

The waters around the island are the most beautiful in the world and tout being one of the best diving areas in the world. This would be the primary reason for going to the Turks. The waters and beach on for ever and create a perfect setting for walking, diving, sailing or reading a book. I would recommend this island for couples and families. I has a different twist to it and will become a premiere tour island in time.
