Time to change again

TIME TO CHANGE AGAIN

I have stated in a number of stories how hard it is to change almost any part of your life. Good bad or indifferent we are use to the time frames we live in, the people in our lives, our living patterns and of course our career or businesses. Many times we get stuck doing the same thing over and over again even if we are not fond of it. Hey, it is our “stuff,” our business, our husband or wife or boy/girlfriend for better or worse. Even when it is worse we tend to hang on waiting for it to get better or being use to the situation, we can deal with it.

The above is not always a fun way to go through life. When it comes to our business lives in these roller coaster times we had better be ready willing and able to change or our businesses will be gone. Over the years, sometimes out of desperation…. okay…. mostly out of desperation, I have changed the complexion of my business. We have changed 5 times over 34 years and it is time for another one.

As for myself I am taking a real estate course. I don't expect to be out selling houses but it is a great way to learn about an industry that is booming all around us here in Red Bank. Going back to school after 38 years was a little unnerving. Guess what…I love it…I am a far better student today than I was years ago. I guess there are a number of pluses to growing older. If any of you are thinking of taking a course in something you have always wanted to…do it!

As far as my business life at Danny's is concerned it is time for a major menu change. With the economy being what it is we are going to design a “Winter Tavern Menu” to augment our regular menu. I will be going back to the comfort foods we grew up on as well as a surprise new addition to the restaurant. All this is going to take change in everything we do but in the long run we are reinventing ourselves. It gets easier every time you do it.
