SANTA/HOLIDAY EXPRESS

Get the kids and bundle them up on November 28th around 5:30 PM. It is time for the Santa and Holiday express tree lighting in downtown Red Bank. For the past 8 years for the Arts and Antique district and for about 11 years for the downtown we have been celebrating Christmas tree lighting on the first Friday after Thanksgiving. It is the start of the Holiday Christmas season as well as the kick off for shopping.

I don't know about you but I feel like I just put the Christmas stuff away and here we go again. The good news is that this night has become a very special one for children and many of the home grown citizens in town.

It starts with the Santa Express train from Little Silver to Red Bank complete with Santa, Mrs. Santa, children and dancers. In the hour before Santa's arrival there is a Christmas program at the Red Bank Railroad Stations complete with bag pipers, dancers, barber shop quartet and Christmas carols.

The train will leave Little Silver at 6:25 and arrive in Red Bank at 6:30. Santa and crew will embark and along with bag pipers, dancers and search lights dancing in the sky will march to Broad Street to join Tim McCloone and the Holiday Express at 7 PM with a stage show complete with big screen cartoons and the Holiday Express Band. Santa appears around 7:30 and the town will be light up around 8:00 PM. This is a great evening for the family.
