CLEAN RUNNING

First I want to congratulate Art Murphy and Pat Menna for winning their council seats in Red Bank. There were a number of things that stood out in the course of events of the election that showed the character of all parties concerned.

For one thing Art and Pat ran a clean campaign. From the time Art was approached he consented to run only if the campaign was run that way and it was. His entire family got behind him and worked a clean and honest campaign from start to finish.

The opposing side did not follow that example and blamed him for everything they could think of including our traffic in Red Bank. Pardon my age but traffic in Red Bank was a pain in the @#$ 20 years ago when Art was still in high school. Our traffic in town is because the population in the surrounding areas has increased 20 times in the last 15 years and we are the hub that everyone passes through. Eatontown has been a crunch for 20 years without any development in the town itself.

When he won the first person he thanked was his wife. Art is a bear of a man in height and size, his wife a petite woman. With a hug for congratulation's she was in tears and he was not far behind. He thanked his family and friends next and then of course his running Pat and our Mayor for all their work and everyone in the room. Slapping the latter two on the back I thought their shoulder blades would be coming through their chests. It was a great night to be part of our home town.
