MOM ON A MISSION OFFERS ALTERNATIVE TO INCUMBENT PALLONE

Dear Editor:

For those New Jerseyans who think that taxes are too high and too complicated for the ordinary citizen, the 6th Congressional District race presents a stark choice of candidates.

Challenger and Mom on A Mission Leigh-Ann Bellew has already signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which includes as its centerpiece a promise to not raise marginal tax rates on individuals or businesses. The Mom on a Mission promises to fight for a flatter, simpler code that reduces the power of lobbyists while empowering ordinary people.

In contrast, incumbent Frank Pallone refuses to even consider the possibility that New Jerseyans are already overtaxed. The 9-term incumbent voted against the Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act, which extends some tax cuts and also provides for relief from the Alternative Minimum Tax. The Alternative Minimum Tax is a stealth tax that punishes those taxpayers who are not able to afford the high cost of high powered tax lawyers and accountants who can plan around it.

New Jerseyans who want higher taxes and more government programs have a clear champion in Frank Pallone. Those New Jerseyans who think that their taxes are high enough and too complicated already also have a clear choice: Mom on a Mission candidate Leigh-Ann Bellew.
