POETS' LAIR

The uncertain man

The uncertain man is the man who’s unsure.
He needs to know what’s on the other side before
he’ll open a door. Although he possesses a key,
he’ll rarely use it. He holds it tightly in his hand
afraid he may lose it. What good is a key if it is never
engaged? How can one explore the book of life if
one never turns a page?

The uncertain man surely longs for some answer,
but like the idle wallflower, he merely envies the
brave dancer. He can feel life’s rhythm in the beat
of his heart, but too quickly concedes defeat
before he’s even had a chance to start.

The uncertain man has a high IQ, but a low self esteem.
He’s a lot like me and you, or somewhere in between.
He’s got no particular plan. He’s the guy who
never raises his hand. He’s the uncertain man.
The uncertain man may forever remain uncertain.
Refusing to play his role, for always in fear of the
final curtain.
