Looking at That Christmas Greeting Card/Letter More Than Once!
28 December 2000

Our family loves receiving Christmas cards and letters. Our walls and doorposts get decorated with them. We admire the artistic drawings and the poetry of the cards, the personal notes, the lengthy letters and the pictures of children and families.

Yet, one has to confess that there seems to be a blurring of individuality at this holiday. How many letters and cards you can look at and remember later on what they said?

About five years ago, my wife Ginny read about a family that kept their Christmas greeting cards and used them as prayer reminders during the year. We have started that tradition ourselves and it is a marvelous one. A few weeks after Christmas we take our cards and we put them in a large box. During our dinner time, we read one of the Christmas cards and we pray for those friends. One year we were still reading Christmas cards in July! This tradition is lots of fun and we as a family are blessed as we bring our friends before the throne of God and remember that for each one of us Jesus Christ came into this world.
