MIDDLETOWN, NJ - On Wednesday, June 18th at 7:00pm, Mater Dei Prep will be hosting “50 Years of Musicals” at Memorial Hall on the campus of Mater Dei Prep. The event, sponsored by Investors Bank and Joseph T. Buzzanco, DMD, will feature Mater Dei Prep alumni and current students performing selections from the past 50 years of award-winning Mater Dei Prep musical theater.
Many talented individuals graced the Mater Dei Prep stage during those years. Returning alumni slated to perform include Grammy and Emmy award winner Trudy Craney, Hollywood producer and director Ted Kurdyla, Broadway, National and World Tour actors Kerrianne Spellman (Les Miserables) and David J.V. Meenan (A Chorus Line, 42nd Street), music legend Joe Rapolla, Hollywood actor and musician Robert McEvilly, director Robert Waldron, musician Robert Marriner, Kathy Smith Logan and Catherine Tarpey.
Cindy J. Dwyer, director of the event and musical director of the Mater Dei Prep Seraph Players for the past 25 years, envisioned the evening as a way for her to connect with her older students: “I’ll use any excuse to bring them back to school, especially to perform.” Her desire to see them happened to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Mater Dei Prep performing arts program and the need for renovations to the school’s performance venue. All proceeds from the evening benefit the Mater Dei Prep Theater Department in their efforts to make specific acoustic improvements to Memorial Hall.
Tickets for the show are $20. VIP tickets are available for $40 and include a pre-show cocktail party from 5pm-7pm in Memorial Hall with complimentary wine, beer, soft drinks and light hors d'oeuvres and priority seating for the show. To purchase tickets or for more information, please call 732.671.9100 ext. 49. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
