OCEAN GROVE, NJ - On Saturday, September 26, 2015, from 7pm-10pm, at Calloways Restaurant in Eagleswood, The Christine Hansson Massaro Breast Cancer Foundation will be having their 4th annual benefit inspired by the life of Christine Massaro.  Kim Murphy of Barnegat NJ, Christine'ssister who with her family, organizes the benefit every yearsays, "We decided to make Mary's Place the beneficiary to this fundraiser because of the experience my sister Christine had there. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and fought courageously until she succumbed to the disease in 2011." Mary's Place is free to all women with any type of cancer and is solely supported by donations. "She was taken by the fact that people would do this for her. Every day of 5 years she was fighting this disease, for the weekend at Mary's Place, she was being pampered. She felt like a celebrity. What better way to honor her, than to give back to the organization that gave so much to her, and made her so happy?" according to Kim. Mary's Place by the Sea is run by service volunteers including Nutritionists, Oncological Masseuses, Yoga Instructors and more.

Michele Gannon, founder of Mary's Place by the Sea, says of Christine, "We are honored and grateful to be a part of Tie One On for Christine Massaro. Although we only knew Christine a short time, her visit with us at Mary's Place left an indelible impression on us. We realized that we can make a difference with each and every guest we care for during their long journey with cancer." Over 5,000 women have been guests to date.

50/50, basket auction, food & drinks, discounted amusement park tickets, and more. Music is being provided by The Diablo Sandwich Band, Sara O’Brien, and Outbreak. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and includes unlimited wings (first hour), pizza, beer, wine, and soda. Chris Hansson, Christine's younger brother of Toms River NJ states, "Calloway's, where Tie One On At The Shore is being hosted, has made a huge impact on this fundraiser. Chris Rossiter, the GM, has helped us every step of the way. He has been setting up the bands, he is allowing us to use Calloway’s for the fundraiser.  Without his help I do not know if we would have been able to pull it all together."

In the past 4 years, The Christine Hansson Massaro Memorial Breast cancer foundation has raised approximately $20,000 with 80% going to breast cancer charities including Mary’s Place by the Sea and the rest for a scholarship fund.

When asked what makes the family continue this fundraiser Murphy responded, "I believe in Mary's Place because the change it made in the life of my sister.  She was a fighter, she fought every single day for 5 years.  Some days were better than others, but the fact that she had cancer was always evident in some way.  For the two days she spent at Mary's Place, she said she did not feel like a cancer patient.  She was was able to relax in a safe and nurturing environment.  She loved being pampered, educated, and being able to share her experiences with others that have experienced an illness like hers.  When we started this foundation, our family agreed that there was no better way to honor her memory than to give back to the place that gave so much to her.  The ladies at Mary's Place have become our family, and we are so proud of how far they have come, and how many women they have helped."
