ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – The Atlantic Highlands First Aid & Safety Squad will launch a new, free electronic newsletter designed to provide information about squad news and more.
The first edition will arrive in early December, and include news on the organization's upcoming Santa Runs through the borough, as well as updates on other squad functions, safety tips and information.
“Subscribers can learn more about what the Atlantic Highlands First Aid Squad does outside of free, around-the-clock emergency medical and rescue services,” said 1st Lieutenant Tom Hayden, who manages the squad’s website, www.ahfirstaid.org. “The newsletter will also provide information on upcoming classes and when Santa will be making it to your street in December. “
Signing up is easy. Visitors to www.ahfirstaid.org can simply click on the newsletter tab and sit back. Subscribers’ e-mail addresses will remain confidential and not be shared with outside organizations.
Timing of the launch is perfect because each year the all-volunteer organization brings Santa to each section of the borough. This year, the AHFAS will post a map of the planned route online and updated each day, starting on Dec. 6. The map will also appear in the first issue of the newsletter.
“The newsletter will give us the opportunity to deliver updates directly to residents,” said Hayden. “That could include news of classes, photos from our training sessions, and more.”
The Atlantic Highlands First Aid Squad is an all-volunteer organization that operates on donations from the borough and its residents. Members devote their time to training, education and responding to calls.
Readers of the Asbury Park Press voted the squad one of the Best Ambulance Squads in Monmouth County for 2010, and it was named EMS Magazine's national Gold Award winner for volunteer EMS organizations in 2009.
“The newsletter is yet another way for us to stay in touch with the community,” said Chief Richard Huff. “Tom’s ongoing efforts keep us up-to-date on the website, on Facebook, and now with this tool we’re extending our reach even further.
“Subscribers will get useful information,” Huff added, “and can be assured this is one newsletter where they won't hear about The Kardashians, 'The Jersey Shore' TV show or Tiger Woods.”
