Glenside, Pa.— Arcadia University senior Ceton Tate, a Theater Arts and English Major from Highlands, N.J., is serving as the Stage Manager for the production of Vanities now through Oct. 31, at Arcadia’s MainStage located at Spruance Fine Arts Centers, 450 S. Easton Road, Glenside, Pa.
Tate also has been involved in Arcadia productions including Assistant Sound Designer for The Love of the Nightingale, Costume Crew for The Tempest and has directed and performed for Arcadia’s student run musical theater group. She served as the stage manager at Soar Productions for Murder on the Nile.
In 2009 Tate studied abroad at Goldsmiths University of London where she says she learned a new side of the theater world in a city that takes theater very, very seriously. She went to the theater at least once a week while in London.
“Every time I hear someone talk about studying abroad I totally endorse it,” says Tate. “It completely changed me as a person. I’m a more confident and level- headed individual now and have learned how to make decisions on my own and how to adjust to situations quickly and easily. I also traveled to Scotland, Ireland, Spain and Germany while I was abroad so I got a lot of different experiences all over Europe. It really help me understand who I am as a person and grounded me in what I can and can’t handle as an individual.”
Tate will be graduating in May 2011 with a BA in Theater Arts and English, and she will return to New Jersey to take a year off to work in the field of theater to get more experience. “I have many interests including acting, directing, stage managing and dramaturgy, so I’m open to where the world will lead me,” says Tate. She also looks forward to attending graduate school.
