HIGHLANDS, NJ - The weather for Saturday is supposed to be warm and sunny.  Come out and participate in the Highlands Beach Sweeps on Saturday morning.  Gloves and trash bags will be at each location

The 25th Annual Beach Sweeps, sponsored by the Clean Ocean Action organization, are this Saturday, October 23 from 9 AM to 12:30 PM.

The cleanup first started in 1985 at Sandy Hook with 75 volunteers.  Since then, over 75,000 citizens, the tall and the small, removed nearly 4 million pieces of trash and helped educate thousands more about the harmful effects of litter and made a difference.  Help keep our beaches and water surrounding them clean for our residents, our boaters and our clammers and fishermen this year by participating in our local Beach Sweeps on this Saturday morning.  Highlands’ beaches involved in the clean up this year are:

-   the Community Center beach  at Snug Harbor Avenue
-   the Miller Street beach
-   the Valley Street Pump Station beach
