MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Middletown Main Library and the non-profit organization Project Paul collaborated on a “Food for Fines” campaign from October 8-9-10th, in which library fines for overdue items were waived in exchange for food. A total of 2,391 non-perishable foods and beverages were collected at the library for needy individuals and families. According to a Project Paul volunteer the items that were collected would be put to good use in light of a recent fire in Keansburg, which left 42 families homeless. The library is extending a special thank you to the 17 teen volunteers who worked during the course of this three-day effort.
