ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – More than 100 adults and children turned out last week for the opening of the 2018 Summer Reading Club program at the Monmouth County Library branch and were amazed by the levitation and disappearance acts of Magician Mat Cadabra.
Popular in both Philadelphia and throughout New Jersey the magician entranced the local audience with his disappearing acts involving mammals and birds and his attention to the youngsters in the audience. The New Jersey based magician has played to sold out audiences at the Tropicana in Atlantic City and has performed more than 2500 programs in libraries, schools, clubs, and private homes.
Theme of these year’s Reading Club program is “Libraries Rock, “as it is presented through all the branches and headquarters of the county library system. All programs are online and on-the-go and available at www.monmouthcountylib.org.
In Atlantic Highlands the program includes five different story times children and families can register for different age levels and interest levels, along with several special programs for which no registration is required.
Registration is required for Baby Bookworms Storytime, geared to newborn to two-year-olds with a parent or caregiver, and is offered on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10 a.m. The program includes nursery rhymes, music, finger play and playtime.
Shake, Rattle and Read toddlers, for two and three-year-old youngsters, is also on Wednesdays, from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. and features stories, rhymes, and songs.
Learn and Play families, for ages 10 months to four years of age is from 11:30 to noon on Wednesdays, and includes stories, song and playtime.
The Preschool program for ages 3 to 5 is offering on Thursday, June 21 from 4 to 4:40 p.m. and includes activities, crafts and story time.
The School Age program is geared to students in kindergarten and up, and is held Thursday, June 21 from 3:15 to 3:50 p.m. and will feature a special guest.
Beach Days Family Storytime is offered for ages 3 and up and begins June28, continuing through Aug. 30, at 4 p.m. combining the summer schedule for the preschool and school age programs held earlier in June.
The next special program, for which no registration is needed, will be held Thursday, June 28 at 4:15 and will feature Unicorn Slime, a textured creative craft best enjoyed after a day at the beach.
