SUN FUN: Adults & Children alike are invited to join us on Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. for a joint program called Fun with the Sun: Solar Obsevations & Activities. Meet members of the STAR Astronomy Club who will lead us in solar observations with special telescopes, plus make sun-paper creations and enjoy a light snack. Open to all ages. Keith Calmes is an American guitarist, educator, composer, and author. His performance credits include a Carnegie Hall recital debut, concerti with the Monmouth Symphony, & a performance with Carlos Barbosa-Lima. Ms. Koharski, is a retired flutist with the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra, a flutist with The Elysion Winds Quintet, a former faculty member of The Monmouth Conservatory of Music.

Through April, we are pleased to welcome Mike Quon, a local artist & graphic designer. Mike’s art has been seen in advertising & promotional campaigns around the world, from the Australia Summer Olympics to World Cup Soccer in Paris, to Times Square and Giants Stadium. He received his art degree at UCLA, and he works with many different artistic mediums.
FOOD DRIVE: Please help us fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need. We are collecting canned and dry goods for Lunch Break to be used in their food pantry. Lunch Break provides food, clothing, life skills and fellowship to those in need in Monmouth County and beyond. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Back by Popular Demand: Historic Red Bank Walking Tours one Saturday per month from April to June. Dates will be April 14, May 5, & June 2 at 11:00 a.m. Each tour is about an hour and a half. Kathy Lou Colmorgen will be the guide for the group. Tours are weather-permitting. Registration is highly recommended. 20 person maximum per tour.
Senior Day: We are looking forward to building a day monthly just for our Seniors! Every 2ndThursday of the Month (April 12) we will now FORGIVE FINES FOR SENIORS! You must be 62 or older. This does not include lost/missing items. At 3:00 p.m. each Senior Day, join our Handcrafting Group for Crotchet, Needlepoint, Knitting, or Embroidery. The Library will provide the space and refreshments. You bring whatever it is you are working on and share conversation with fellow yarn crafters. We will continue to add Senior Day programs throughout the year.
The next meeting of the Artists’ Workshop at the Red Bank Public Library is Thursday, April 5, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Artists seeking inspiration, motivation and time to devote to their work are invited to attend on the first Thursday of each month. Red Bank artist Joe Bergholm is the Workshop’s Artist-in-Residence and consults with the artists as a group, as well as individually. He offers suggestions for subjects as well as guidance in principles of art such as color, composition, and the selection and use of materials. The Artists’ Workshop is free and no registration is required. Participants should bring their own drawing and painting materials. Oils are not permitted because of ventilation concerns. The program is supported by a generous contribution from the Friends of the Red Bank Public Library.
English as a Second Language classes for adults 18 & over are conducted by the Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County at the Red Bank Public Library. The course will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:45 – 8:45 p.m. These classes are free, and new participants are welcome to join. Please bring a pen and paper to take notes. The Red Bank Public Library is pleased to host The River Read Reading Series on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 11:30 a.m.—1:30 p.m. The next program will take place on Saturday, April 14, with featured poet Grant Clauser. Grant is the author of four poetry books: Reckless Constellations (winner of the 2016 Cider Press Review Book Award), The Magician's Handbook, Necessary Myths & The Trouble with Rivers. His poetry has also appeared in journals such as The American Poetry Review, Folio, and Painted Bride Quarterly. In 2010 he was the Montgomery County Poet Laureate. He also teaches in the Rosemont College Writers' Studio. An open-mic session will follow, with poetry, prose, spoken word – all styles welcome. LET’S TALK ABOUT RACE continues on Wednesday, April 25, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room. In this popular and important series we continue to discuss and explore issues of race, gender, class, and culture. An open and honest dialogue is encouraged which generates enlightening and informative exchanges. Refreshments will be served. This program is free and open to the public. The Red Bank Senior Center, in cooperation with the Red Bank Public Library, hosts a Book Discussion Group on the last Monday of each month at the Senior Center at 1:00 p.m., except in December. Borough residents age 60 and over may join the Center and participate in this or any of its other great programs.
