HIGHLANDS, NJ - The Highlands Business Partnership will paint the town green for the 16th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM. The colorful festivities will highlight Irish culture with nearly 100 marching units including bagpipers, marching bands, Irish dancers, and beautifully decorated floats. The parade will begin at Waterwitch Avenue and extend along Bay Avenue. The 2018 Grand Marshals are Gary Branin Sr., Branin’s Construction and Co- Grand Marshall is Gloria Miller, Seascape Manor Bed & Breakfast.

Gary Branin was born and raised in Highlands and has been an active volunteer in the community. He has been a member of the Highlands Fire Department for 50 years, and in his younger years was a member of the Highlands First Aid Squad for 20 years. He and his wife Pamela have been married for 47 years and they have 4 children, Keri, Gary Jr., Kevin and Joseph and have 5 grandchildren. Gary is the owner of Branin’s Construction Company, which has been in business in Highlands for 48 years.

Gloria Miller is the co-owner of Seascape Manor. Gloria is originally from Mercer County, Pennsylvania. She and her late sister, Sherry Ruby, summered in Highlands and together bought a house in 1992, which became the Seascape Manor Bed & Breakfast. The Seascape Manor is known for its spectacular views of the waterfront and NYC Skyline as well as the good ole fashioned homemade breakfast. They attract over 1,200 visitors to their establishment annually. Today, the B&B, is owned and operated by Gloria and her brother in-law Robert Adamec. Gloria is also the Chairperson of the Highlands Housing Authority Board of Commissioners for over 15 years.

The 2018 Co-Grand Marshals will lead the parade beginning at Huddy Park with hundreds marching along a one-mile stretch of Bay Avenue. Highlands Business Partnership will host the annual “Competition of Floats.” All Businesses and/or Organizations in Highlands will be competing in three (3) categories: Best of Show, Prettiest, and the Most Original. In addition, a trophy will be presented for the Best of Apparatus. All fire companies will honor a silent march in tribute to our fallen fire fighters.

Participants representing Military, Political, Civic, Church, and other community organizations will proudly march. The Henry Hudson Regional Marching Band and Cheerleaders will be performing with over 100 members. The Pipe and Drum Bands include the Monmouth County Police & Fire Pipe & Drums, Ocean County Emerald Society Pipe & Drums, Staten Island Pipes & Drums, Middlesex County Police & Fire Pipes and Drums, Union County Police & Fire Pipes & Drums, Essex County Emerald Society Police & Fire Pipes & Drums, Richmond County Pipe & Drums and the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh Pipes & Drums of Old Bridge.
