All area residents are invited to attend the 10 a.m. service at the 127-year-old church at Third and East Highland avenues.
Whitehurst's sermon is entitled "Buried Treasure" and will focus upon the "between times in which we live, the time beginning with Jesus' death and resurrection and ending when Christ returns."
The sermon will focus on the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 23:14-303.
Whitehurst is a hospice chaplain. He is a native of New Bern, N.C., he attended Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia and was ordained in 1996. He served at the Hapeville Presbyterian Church in Atlanta for nine years until 2009.
