MANALAPAN, NJ – Several positions are open within the Monmouth County Library System, Renee Swartz, Chair of the Monmouth County Library Commission announced this week.

Local residents interested in learning more about positions available are urged to access the Monmouth County web site at visitmonmouth.com and search the employment tab for job opportunities, Swartz said.

There are both full time and part time positions available, including a librarian/program coordinator position, and positions are available for both library assistants and librarians who meet the qualification standards. There is a special need for library employees proficient in the technical aspects of library work, and skillful in both hardware and software applications.

“Our Monmouth County Library has set high standards for itself,” Freeholder Director Lillian Burry said. Burry, who is the Board of Freeholders liaison to the library, noted with its headquarters and 12 other branches and the variety of services they offer, it is essential to ensure the personnel serving the public have strong backgrounds themselves and an expertise library users within the library system have come to expect.

“We are indeed proud of the Monmouth County Library and all its employees who serve the public in such diverse ways not only within the facilities themselves, but also through their electronic resources which provide accessibility to everything from online courses and e-books to archived issues of national newspapers,” Burry continued. “Each employee is proficient in his or her own area of expertise, especially vital in the 21st century when the library is so much more than simply a place to borrow books. Under the Library Commission, the Monmouth County facilities have kept up with the latest resources to make so much available to not only our reading public, but also those residents who take advantage of our musical programs, plays, speakers, and so much more. We have facilities that headline teenagers, children, programs geared specifically to infants so they can grow up feeling comfortable within the library and knowing it is always a place to go for research and education as well as entertainment and social development.”
