LINCROFT, NJ – Lincroft Presbyterian Church (LPC) (www.lincroftpc.org) invites the community to participate in a three-part discussion series on Gender, Sexuality and Faith Tuesdays May 23, 30 and June 6 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Church, located at 270 Everett Road at the corner of West Front Street in Lcroft,
“Our teens and adults alike have raised questions about the topic of gender, sexuality and faith. Given the deep division in our denomination and country on this issue, it’s important for us to come together to better understand one another,” notes LPC Reverend Diane R. Ford. “We hope these classes will give everyone an increased vocabulary, a deeper awe for the human creature, and compassion for all types of people and families.”
Educator, Chaplain and Volunteer Kicks Off Series
The series will kick off with guest speaker, Rev. Rosemarie Newberry, an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister who works as a chaplain for adults with developmental disabilities at one of New Jersey’s institutions in Burlington County, is a trained sex education instructor for children K-12, neuro-typical adults and adults with developmental disabilities, and volunteers in the Middletown Office of Emergency Management.
What Does the Bible Say About Gender & Sexuality?
The subsequent two sessions will focus on the book, “The Bible’s YES to Same Sex Marriage: An Evangelical’s Change of Heart,” by Marc Achtemeier with a facilitator. The final class led by Reverend Ford will walk through the six in the Bible that have been used to shun and demonize sexual and gender identities.
