Elkins Park, PA – Christopher J. Quinn, OD ’85, FAAO, has been named the 2017 Albert Fitch Memorial Alumnus of the Year by the Salus University Alumni Association. This award is presented to an alumnus/alumna of the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) who has distinguished himself/herself through extraordinary service and contributions to the profession of optometry, bringing honor and prestige to the University.

Dr. Quinn is founder and president of the New Jersey based Omni Eye Services (OMNI), an optometric referral center practice dedicated to serving the needs of community optometrists. He completed an externship at Fort Howard VA Medical Center, Baltimore in affiliation with the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute, and continued with residency training at the same facility. Omni is a multi-specialty ophthalmic practice that also serves as an affiliated externship site for PCO students and sponsors an accredited residency program affiliated with PCO.

Dr. Quinn holds academic appointments at numerous colleges of optometry including PCO. He has been extensively published in professional journals and books, and is the principal author of the American Optometric Association’s Clinical Practice Guideline on Care of the Patient with Conjunctivitis. His contributions to professional optometry have included past president of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians, member of the AOA Federal Relations Committee and State Government Relations Committee, and an AOA representative to the American Medical Association’s Resource Based Relative Value Update Committee-Healthcare Professions Advisory Committee. Currently serving as AOA president-elect, he is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, Diplomate, American Board of Optometry, and Distinguished Practitioner of the National Academies of Practice.

Dr. Quinn will accept his award at the Alumni and Friends Reception at the upcoming American Optometric Association’s meeting taking place in June.
