ah first presbyterian churchATLANTIC HIGHLANDS -- Pastor Paul F. Rack will present a message entitled "Hypocrites" during the Palm Sunday worship service starting at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.

Members and friends, as well as all area residents, are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served before and after the church service.

According the Rack, "We will begin the service with the traditional procession of palms; later the tone of the service shifts to an anticipation of Jesus death on the cross."

The pastor's sermon is based on Mattew 23: 13-36.

"Anyone seeking to know why Jesus got himself crucified need look no further than Matthew 23, where he calls out the powerful religious and legal leaders of his society, explicitly condemning them as 'hypocrites,'” Rack says. "His words make it clear that he is thoroughly disgusted by leaders who make a point of looking good, while doing evil and corruption, especially among the poor.

"With these words he finishing making himself someone they wanted to do away with."

Elder Barbara Stone will be the liturgist for the service.
