ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ -- The Atlantic Highlands Shade Tree Commission will hold its second annual stakeholders meeting at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 8 in the Public Library at the Borough Hall, 100 First Ave.
The public is invited to attend where they will hear about the borough's shade trees and efforts to protect them, as well as municipal storm water management plans.
Maureen Campbell, a forester with Jersey Central Power & Light Co., will speak on storms and their effect on trees.
Light refreshments will be served after the presentation and a question and answer period.
The borough has earned national Tree City USA designation for 35 consecutive years in recognition of its efforts to protect trees and expand its tree coverage.
Among other activities, the commission conducts an annual poster contest for elementary school pupils, educational programs for youngsters and so-called "tribute" tree plantings in honor of civic leaders and other borough residents.
