LINCROFT, NJ - On April 15, 2016, Friday evening about 40 Cub Scouts and 30 parents met with firefighters of the Lincroft Fire Company to learn about the fire company. Pack 210 Cubmaster Clay Bernabeo introduced the firefighters who then explained to the Cub Scouts and their parents about the all-volunteer Fire Company and how the calls are dispatched, how they respond and that Lincroft is one of the eleven fire companies that comprise the Middletown Township Fire Department. The firefighters then presented fire safety issues like not smoking, family fire drills at home and safe gathering points away from the fire.

Firefighters Siclare and Hubney demonstrated how firefighters put on their gear piece by piece forming a protective envelope to keep the firefighters safe from smoke and flame. Thermal Imaging Camera (TICs) were demonstrated to show the Cub Scouts how the firefighters search for fire victims using the TICs to see through the smoke to find victims, safely remove them and extinguish the fire.

The Cub Scouts then went outside the Lincroft School and learned about all the firefighting tools carried on the Tower Ladder, Engine and Brush truck and instructed the Cub Scouts how the tools are used. The Cub Scouts then examined the apparatus closer sitting in the various seats and learning the jobs of the driver/pump operator, officer in charge and the firefighting crew.

It was a great night of fun and education for the Cub Scouts.

The Lincroft Fire Company reminded parents that the Lincroft Fire Company is an all-volunteer organization supported by their donations and that we can always use more volunteers!
