ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - Training is an integral part of every firefighting organization. For the Atlantic Highlands Fire Department that training includes being prepared for emergencies at the municipal marina.
The Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor has undergone significant upgrades since Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
"In addition to the updated fire safety features built into the harbor, post Sandy, and the fire boat, the department's engine carries enough hose to reach the furthest point of all piers in the marina." Dep. Fire Marshal Paul Murphy wrote in an email.
The Atlantic Highlands Fire Department has kept pace with the evolving training requirements of a harbor town. Monday night, April 25th, the Department conducted a hose line deployment drill in the municipal marina. The drill included running hose out on the gas dock at the harbor and charging the line.
